Tianshan Glass Bangle
Tianshan Glass Bangle
A round bangle in a pale grey-green glass worked with cloudy veining, which is the look the Chinese trade sells as jade. It is not jade: the maker states plainly on the offer that the piece is glass imitating jade, and that bubbles and small flaws come with the process. The title still names a jadeite mountain range, so treat the title as marketing and the notice as the specification. Two inner diameters are filed, 58 mm and 62 mm, and the weight is given as 25. Thin, cool and light on the wrist, which is exactly what a glass bangle is, and priced accordingly.
- Colour: Pale green (kong qing)
- Sizes: Inner diameter 58 mm or 62 mm
- Material: Glass, made to imitate jade. The maker says so on the listing.
Glass, said out loud
The offer carries a notice in which the maker calls the material glass and warns about bubbles, black spots and patches. That honesty is the reason to list it: a retailer can sell a pretty glass bangle without ever telling a customer it is jade.
Two diameters, one colour
Only one colour is filed — a pale green the maker calls kong qing — in 58 mm and 62 mm. A bangle is bought by diameter, so quote the size with the order.
Why we chose it
Because the jade look sells, and this is the honest version of it — glass, disclosed, at a price that matches.
Care
- Glass chips at the edge before it cracks; check the rim after every drop.
- Wash in warm water with a little soap and dry with a soft cloth.
- Keep it away from a hard surface edge — this is glass, not stone.
