Colour

A bare sandal cut on a squared last: one clean band across the toes, running back along the outside of the foot into a slingback strap that closes on a small buckle behind the heel. There is nothing at the ankle, which is what makes it read as a summer shoe rather than an evening one — the foot is held by the toe band and the sling and nothing else. The upper and the lining are both superfine microfibre, and the sole is rubber with its edge bound in the same microfibre as the upper, so the sole line is a thin covered roll rather than a black rubber ledge, which is the detail that lifts it above its price. The maker files a square toe and this time the field is right: the front edge is square across the toes on every frame. Three colourways, all three photographed — black, beige and a red the maker files as red and the camera records as a deep oxide. Sizes 35 to 40. The maker holds it in stock and gives three days as its latest dispatch, the fastest of the five sandals in this batch.

One strap, and nothing at the ankle

The listing files a single strap with a buckle, and it is worth being exact about where that buckle is, because a bare sandal lives or dies on it. The strap crosses the toes once and carries on along the outside of the foot into a sling behind the heel, where it buckles. Nothing crosses the ankle. The result sits lower on the foot than a two-strap sandal and shows more of the instep, which is why it works under a wide trouser and why it is less forgiving under a narrow one.

Three days, in stock

The sourcing field reads stock on hand, and the maker gives three days as its latest dispatch window. Most of what we list from this platform is made to order, with an 8-to-15-day window attached. A shoe that can leave the factory in three days changes what a small buyer can do with it: a short run, a restock inside a season, a colour tested without committing to a full production order.

A red that is really an oxide

The colour field says red, and the frames show something darker — an oxide or wine red that reads almost brown in the shadow of the plinth and brightens only where the studio light hits the toe. The swatch on this page is taken from the photographs rather than from the word in the field, because a buyer matching it against a leather sample will be matching it against a photograph. If a bright red is what the season needs, this is not it.

Details

  • Colour: Black · Beige · Red
  • Size: EU 35–40 — six continental sizes, filed as 35,36,37,38,39,40
  • Material: Microfibre upper and lining, rubber outsole
  • Sole: Rubber, with the sole edge bound in the same material as the upper
  • Heel: High — the maker files a 6 to 8 cm bracket on a slim heel that flares very slightly at the tip. The photographs put it at the lower end of that bracket; no exact height is published.
  • Fit: Square open toe; one band across the toes running back into a slingback strap that buckles at the outside of the heel. No ankle strap. Width and instep: DETAILS TO BE CONFIRMED with the maker.

Care

  • Microfibre takes a dry brush better than a wet cloth. Dust the sole edge with a soft brush rather than wiping it, or the bound edge will dull first.
  • The sling buckle is small and sits where a heel strikes the ground when the shoe is carried. Fasten it before the shoes go in a bag.
  • The maker publishes no care symbol and no fibre grade for the microfibre. Both are quote questions.

Why we chose it

Because it is the fastest shoe in the batch — in stock, three days to dispatch — and because the sole edge is bound in the upper material instead of sitting under it, which is the one construction detail that separates this from every other single-strap sandal at the price. The red being darker than the word suggests is the only thing we would put in front of a buyer before they quote it.
