Multi-Colour Halter Bikini

A two-piece cut to the plainest useful shape: a triangle cup gathered onto a halter neck tie and a brief that ties at both hips. What makes it a stock line rather than a one-off is the width of the colour card — fifteen colours are filed, from white and black through coral, grass green and turquoise to lime — and the fact that each of them can be bought with or without the moulded cup pad. The face fabric is filed as a percentage only, with the fibre left unnamed, so this page quotes the polyester lining and says plainly that the face is not specified. A percentage without a fibre

The face fabric is given as 85 with no fibre named and the lining is a polyester at 94. That is enough to know it is a swim blend and not enough to promise chlorine resistance, so ask for the mill sheet if you need that claim on your own label.

• Rinse in cold fresh water after every swim; salt and chlorine both dull a swim jersey.
