Colour

Double-faced cloth is the whole point of this jacket. Two woven faces are joined along every edge instead of one face being lined, so there is no slippery interior, no padding between the layers, and the seams read as soft ridges rather than being hidden. The fibre figure comes from the stall twice over: its attribute table gives 绵羊毛70%、聚酯纤维25%、其它5%, and the same seventy per cent is written into all three colour names on the listing. There is no test report, so we repeat the number and say where it came from. Sizes are given by body weight rather than by measurement, so the six sizes are quoted as bands and the chest, sleeve and length stay open. Three colours are listed and three were photographed, two of them from the front and one from the back.

Two faces, no lining

A double-faced jacket is not a lined jacket with the lining removed — it is two woven faces joined to each other along every edge, which is why the inside is the same cloth as the outside and why the jacket weighs what it looks like it weighs. It is also why the seams show as ridges: there is nothing behind them to hide the stitching.

Seventy per cent, printed twice

The attribute table gives 绵羊毛70%、聚酯纤维25%、其它5%. The stall then repeats the seventy per cent inside every colour name it wrote, in brackets. Two independent places in one listing state the same figure, which is rarer here than the figure itself — and there is still no test report behind it, so the number is quoted with its source and nothing more is claimed.

The third piece

The shop already carries the wool trouser and the matching waistcoat. This is the jacket that completes them, and the first standalone blazer we have offered for men — cut soft enough in the shoulder to wear over a knit rather than only over a shirt.

Care

  • Brush it rather than washing it. Wool releases dust and surface marks with a soft brush, and a double-faced jacket cannot be washed without the two faces parting company.
  • Dry clean it whole when it needs more than a brush. The two faces are joined all the way round, so a spot-cleaned patch leaves a tide mark that will not come out.
  • Hang it on a shaped hanger with the shoulders supported. There is no lining and no padding to hold the shape between wearings.

Why we chose it

Because the cloth is joined rather than lined — a jacket that is wool on both sides — and because the stall wrote seventy per cent wool into its attribute table and then wrote the same figure into each colour name, which is as close to a verifiable number as this market gets.
