Croc-Effect Lock-Clasp Handbag

A small structured handbag cut square and shallow, embossed with a fine crocodile grain that catches light along the ridges rather than the flat of the panel. The flap closes on a gold turn-lock set in a plain plate — no monogram, no plate lettering — and behind the flap there is a zip. There is one open compartment and no divider, so it is an evening or a going-out bag rather than a working one. The strap is a single one and clips off, which leaves a top handle. Four colours are photographed: black, white, camel and a bright pink, all in the same grain.

Because the lock plate is plain, so it can sit next to a designer bag on a shelf without looking like an imitation of one.

Care

• Wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry it away from a radiator; heat lifts an embossed PU.
• Keep the lock plate dry and store the bag in its dust bag so the grain does not rub.
• Do not stack anything on it — the embossed panel takes a permanent mark under weight.
