Baroque Pearl Bracelet
Baroque Pearl Bracelet
Baroque pearls are the ones the round-pearl trade rejects: off-round, lumpy, no two alike, which is exactly why a strand of them reads as collected rather than manufactured. Here they are strung on a fine gold-tone chain in alternating sizes, with a scalloped shell charm set with small clear stones closing the line and a short chain end to adjust. The maker files the pearls as natural under the trend field and files the shape as an animal or zodiac figure, which is not what the photographs show — what is photographed is a shell. The colour field mixes single bracelets with five- and six-piece sets and a long list of internal stock numbers, and it includes a row the maker calls real gold; that is treated here as a name rather than a gold-content claim. Soft, and not remotely round. (Pearl size and metal: TO BE CONFIRMED with the maker.)
- Colour: Pink baroque pearls · White baroque pearls, both on a gold-tone chain
- Sizes: Adjustable chain end
- Material: Freshwater baroque pearls on a plated chain
Why the pearls are lumpy
A baroque pearl is a freshwater pearl that grew without a round nucleus to guide it, so its surface takes whatever shape the mantle gave it. That is a fault in a round-strand grading and a feature in this style — and it is the reason a bracelet at this price can still look like something pulled out of a jewellery box.
Why we chose it
Because baroque pearls are the one pearl style that is better for being imperfect, and this is the cheapest honest version of it in the favourites — no round-pearl claims, no gold-content claims, just the pearls.
Care
- Pearls are soft: put the bracelet on last and take it off first, so clasps and zips never reach the nacre.
- Keep it away from perfume, hairspray and hot water — all three dull a pearl surface within a season.
- Store it flat in a soft pouch rather than hanging on a hook, so the strand keeps its drape.
